Having been led by God’s grace to repent of our sin and believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord, and having been baptized upon our public profession of faith and surrender in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and relying upon God’s continued gracious sustaining assistance, we hereby solemnly and joyfully affirm our covenant with each other as members of First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Texas.
We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit, being slow to anger and eager to seek reconciliation as we seek to live at peace with all people.
We will walk together in the bond of Christian love, faithfully exercising affectionate attentive care over each other and encouraging one another in the use of our spiritual gifts for the edification of the church.
We will not neglect the assembling of ourselves together, nor to pray for ourselves and one another.
We will endeavor, both corporately and individually, to seek the salvation of all those in our community by boldly proclaiming the Good News of hope through word and deed, and to joyfully give of our resources to aid in the spread of the Gospel around the world.
We will work together for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry as we sustain the worship, ordinances, and doctrines of the church as we regularly and cheerfully contribute to the support of the expenses of the church and its various ministries.
We will seek to bring up and instruct those under our care in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
We will seek to live carefully in the world, denying all forms of ungodliness and worldly lusts, and exercising honesty in all of our dealings and faithfulness in all of our commitments.
We will rejoice in each other’s happiness and bear each other’s burdens and sorrows.
We will, if we move from this place, unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
